How the Suir Blueway Works
Everything you need to know before heading out on your first ride
Find Your Starting Point
The Suir Blueway stretches from Ardfinnan to Clonmel. Most riders start at Ardfinnan — it's quieter and lets you build confidence. Parking's easy and there's a café nearby for a coffee before you head off.
Check Your Bike Setup
Before you ride, make sure your seat height is right — you shouldn't be straining to reach the pedals. Your handlebars should feel comfortable, not too stretched. Proper setup makes hours in the saddle actually enjoyable.
Pack What You Need
Bring water, a light snack, and your phone. The path is flat and well-maintained but you'll want breaks. There's a village every few kilometres with restrooms and places to rest your legs.
Ride at Your Pace
There's no rush. Some riders do the whole 40 kilometres in one day. Others spread it over two rides with a break in Clonmel for lunch. The point is to enjoy being outside and moving your body — not to race anyone.
